ifa-marchIndependent Film Arizona’s August 4th Meeting will be its first ever Elevator Pitch Meeting. Tuesday, August 4, at 7 PM at Connect Coworking, 33 South Fifth Avenue (between Congress and Broadway), Tucson.

First, in an elevator pitch format, we will explain the fundamentals of giving an elevator pitch. Be brief, grab the audience’s attention at the start, front load the most important information, and integrate (say what is important, but only what is important). Everything that needs to be said in the time it takes an elevator to get from the ground floor to your stop.

Second, in an elevator pitch format, we will have experienced actors and filmmakers give an elevator pitch explaining how to do what it is they do as filmmakers (and what it is you need to do to be successful). For example, we will have a writer give an elevator pitch on screenwriting. We will have a director of photography give an elevator pitch on operating the camera. We will have a gaffer give an elevator pitch on lighting. We will have an acting instructor give an elevator pitch on acting. We will have a sound engineer give an elevator pitch on location sound. . . . Make up. Special effects. Wardrobe. Editing. Preproduction. Producing. Distribution. And even the mighty Directing — explained before the bell rings and the doors slide open.

Third, we will have a traditional elevator pitch competition, in which writers and filmmakers can pitch their film idea to the audience with the best pitch getting a $100 prize (cash money).

And we will explain how you can enter IFA’s Arizona Film Competition and win the $1,000 Cash Prize for your film that was shot (in whole or in part) in Arizona.

As always the meeting is free and open to all.
